This last Saturday, November 18 I participated in the annual, Comité Noviembre Artisans & Authors Event held at Hostos Community. There is no better place to host a Puerto Rican event such as this than in Eugenio Maria De Hostos Community College in the heart of the South Bronx, El Condado de la Salsa.
It was a pleasure to sit among so many other Puerto Rican authors of all types of books. I personally walked around and browsed at all of the other participants and their books. As usual, I wound up buying a few even before I sold one of my own. I have always been brought up to support my community and I try as often as I can.
I had a great experience. I sold books, and met an incredible number of Boricuas and non-Boricuas who were genuinely interested in picking up my book, and asking me questions on the content. I am still humbled by the response that I have getting on the book by people of all ages. I also had the opportunity to see friends that I have not seen in ages.
After it began to dwindle down to just a few visiting our area of the authors, I decided to close shop and do what I did last year when I attended for the first time, I went shopping for my Christmas gifts.
Thank you Comité Noviembre for giving our community a day to appreciate and expose our cultural, artistic and literary heritage.
I look forward to next year.
